This girl is nicking other people's art (mine as well) and I thought I'd warn you all. I'm going to write her a firmly worded letter and let her know that what she's doing isn't on at all. I'm going to lodge a complaint with Deviant.

ETA: The girl that did this is fifteen. Someone said of my Tonks artwork: " Ahhh...so coooool. *gapes* Fave...damn you being my age; you should be at least in your twenties to be this good" Uhm - YEAH!

Ooh I have an idea...we should start an LJ community called Plagiarists Unmasked (or something like that) where people can report and archive all the instances of plagiarism they've run across. Then once a week or month or whatever, we could let daily_snitch and quickquote know about new instances. Kind of like the way shops report on people who've cashed bad cheques by posting the people's name (or a facsimile of their cheque) in the shop.

Regarding that comment about your Tonks artwork at the other girl's page, you should comment to the commenter if she likes it she should check out your other work at ... and leave a link to one of the timestamped pages containing your Tonks piece.

This way you not only let the thief know you're onto her as well as clue in her "admirers," but you might even pick up some new fans as they get channeled correctly to your pages.

Of course, vitriolic profanity also is fun! ;-)

Oh good lord, this sort of thing again? LOL, I've seen this happen before, always on DA, to a couple of other artists I know. It's always a fairly young girl and she always makes up stories about how *hard* she worked on this pic and how GREAT she thinks it looked! And then someone will say "what did you use to do it?" and she'll make up something completely wrong *cackles*

This has happened so many times that I'm past the point of being enraged on behalf of the original artists; consider it an annoying compliment and I shall be giggling at her stupidity. ^_~ You, however, wrote a remarkably understanding and kind message to her: I would've been like "Um, yeah hi, I'm the original artist and you're a fuckwit. You are SO BAHLEETED!" ;)

Oh, fekt, that's just awful. I've had stories nicked before, but this was before the Internet was as large as it was, and they simply wound up on college networks with someone else on the byline. I'm just glad you found out about it.

Not too long ago, someone was swiping Goldy's Harry/Hermione pictures and re-coloring Hermione's hair blonde to post the pictures on a Harry/Luna site. The thief was very clear about being a thief, and said "This is such good artwork, and it's so sad to see it being used for evil, so I changed it."

I love the Internet. Too bad it's so full of idiots.
