Well. I enrolled today at TAFE. I was both stupidly excited and then incredibly nervous, cause I saw my prospective classmates.
They are all:
a) Younger than me
b) Way cooler than me.
Now, I am not going there to make friends. I'm going there to get my career started. But still, it's something that I worry will make my time there difficult. I'm just - daggy, old and uncool compared to these young hip kids. They're where I was years ago and I know I'll never fit in. Oh well.
I'll concentrate on my music.
What year was it?
1992-1996
What were your three favorite bands?
The Beatles, The BeeGees and Regurgitator
What was your favorite outfit?
Hippy clothes. Flares, hippy skirts, roman sandals (oh how I miss them!) and loose gauzy tops (FOOL! The one time in my life I could have gotten away with dressing utterly skimpy, and I was MODEST!!)
What was up with your hair?
Long and healthy and straight and gorgeous and I looked good with it. Nothing was up with it at all.
Who were your best friends?
Bianca and Sam and Emma. :) But for the most part, Bianca. And Meryki was a good friend, too. :) I used to have a friend in year eight called Alesha, or something like that. She was totally nice to me. I spent a lot of time with a bunch of people - Bryony, Estelle (the most graceful person I've known, I think), Kylie.
What did you do after school?
I spent hours practicing my songs in my rooms, and miming music in front of a mirror, practicing my presentation technique.
Where did you work?
I didn't work. I was a student.
Did you take the bus?
No. Oh - sometimes I did, yes.
Who did you have a crush on?
A Trek Geek called Adam (I think his last name was Sparnon) who ended up being totally gay. I don't remember what the heck I saw in him. The most humourous thing was the both of us gazing at Wil Wheaton adoringly together, and me never grabbing a clue that *maybe* he wasn't quite straight. The prick still has my damned Wil Wheaton drawing!!! (I want it back! Bwah!)
Did you fight with your parents?
All the freakin' time. But that happens when you're changing so fast.
Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Wil Wheaton. LE SIGH! *cracks up*
Did you smoke cigarettes?
Hell no.
Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?
No. I lugged all my books around cause I couldn't be fucked using my locker. My locker was a warp in the space-time contiuum where new life-forms were born of my abandoned home ec pracs and maths books I never used sat and gathered dust.
Did you have a 'clique'?
*snort* No. I hated them and secretly wished they'd let me in them, and when I did get to know the 'popular' kids, realised they were all as frightened and uninteresting as I was.
Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
Who?
Admit it, were you popular?
Okay, I'll admit it - everyone thought I was a huge nerd.
Who did you want to be just like?
Drag Queens. I wanted to be fabulous like Drag Queens. Now, Drag Queens want to be fabulous like me. Or I like to think so. *snorts at self*.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A world-famous singer of amazing ability.
Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
Fucking famous and married to some gorgeous rich cunt.

Date: 2005-01-28 04:26 pm (UTC)And dude, seriously...you are way cool. Just because everyone's younger than you doesn't mean they'll think you're not cool. Hell, I think you're awesome and I'm 17, aren't I? I'll bet that in person, you're even MORE awesome. YOu seem like you have a really fun personality. Seriously. ::HUGS::

Date: 2005-01-28 11:16 pm (UTC)I'm in my 4th semester of college now. My school is over a 1000 kilometers from home and I knew nobody when I first moved. I was a bit scared because I was older (20) then most of the students (17-18), although I look and act a little young for my age. It just took some time to find people around the college that I clicked with, about a few months (Who knew there were so many MST3K fans up here?). Some of the people I've met I have become really close friends with and others turned out to be total losers. Plus I've met people who I have strange connections with. One friend from the local university used to live 2 blocks from my house and we had never met before.
There's nothing cooler then hoping into a car full of your friends and going on stupid adventures between classes. *grins*
