logansrogue: (What? Fuck off!)
Dear Tony Blair (AAOSIWSTMBG),

You do not get to tell #Egypt how to conduct their own struggle for freedom.  You do not scold a nation of people whose ancestors were building huge, complicated, incredible tombs and statues and buildings while our own were guddling for turnips in the mud, scratching their tog-wearing arses and being proud of managing to knock Stone Henge together.

To bang on about non-violence when these people are being BRUTALISED, when you say to them “People on BOTH sides need to be non-violent”, you’re being a craven fucking wanker.

These people are not protesting because it would be fun.  They are doing it because THEY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.  And in that horrible situation where they have to do all these things, face down TANKS and MILITARY JETS and MACHINE GUNS and CORRUPT COPS AND NATIONAL SECURITY in the vain fucking hope that this horrible man that has been sucking the life out of their beautiful country for thirty years will just go away, these people still manage to KEEP THEIR SHIT TOGETHER.

They set up Community Watch groups and security.  They assigned people to be traffic cops in lieu of actual policemen doing their jobs.  They PROTECTED THE CAIRO MUSEUM OF ANTIQUITIES WITH THEIR OWN FUCKING LIVES.

YOU DO NOT GET TO SCOLD THESE PEOPLE LIKE NAUGHTY SCHOOL-CHILDREN.  I’M TALKING TO YOU, MR. BLAIR.  These people have risked MORE for their country, done more for their people, than you could EVER HAVE DONE FOR YOURS.

And I offer that little tirade for anyone saying the same tired fucking shit.  Most of the talking political heads from the West pontificating about non-violence have no fucking idea how hard the Egyptian People have tried to keep this peaceful.  I think their behaviour and their actions in this struggle have been incredible.  Stunning.  Amazing.  They should be inspiring for people the world over.
