logansrogue: (too angry)
I finally saw this BBC documentary. It was aired on the ABC tonight, but I missed it. I saw it on youtube and it made me cry. Seeing those poor damned cocker spaniels writhing in pain on the floor, or a boxer having an epileptic fit. How can people do this to dogs? The rich snotty bastards that wilfully breed these animals, they have no care about the future of the breed, nor any care of the cruelty they inflict. These people live with an inward material flow. They think only of themselves, only of acquisition of wealth and status, and think nothing of the big picture.

Well, money and ignorance does not change science. If you limit your breeding pool, you are going to end a population. Diversity is survival. Basic Darwinian principle, man!

I really love dogs. They are such sweet, sweet animals. They have a loyalty and a capacity for unconditional love that touches me deeply. A lovely labrador cross (he was part lab, part mongrel) was my only friend when I was 10. I had no friends at school and I was miserable. So happens the next door neighbour's dog was miserable and lonely too. We found each other over the fence, and because the neighbour had previously had barky dogs, I thought this dog was mean and barky too. But he wasn't. He was sweet and he cried for me to throw him a ball. And I kept throwing that damned ball for him for years and years, in any weather, despite the sliminess of his spit. Tiger loved to play. Tiger was a true friend to me.

I can't imagine loving dogs so much that you would keep and breed them yourself. I love dogs but I just couldn't cope with losing them so soon. I have a hard enough time coping with the loss of my cats, and Melma's been going for 19 years now. I worry about her every day (I know, nutty, but she's a good cat, a wonderful caring friend).

So people keeping multiple dogs, breeding them, and then not caring if they're carrying on painful, debilitating genetic illnesses? What is that? How... how uncaring, cruel and heartless do you have to be? Is it THAT hard to police your breeding practices, to make sure you don't carry on any detrimental lines? A woman in this documentary quite happily said that she likes to euthanase any rhodesian ridgeback puppies she has that are born without a ridgeback!! It's a perfectly healthy fucking puppy! The ridge is actually an expression of a gene that can easily be Spina Bifida!! I mean, WHAT THE HELL?!

The woman is talking happily about KILLING PUPPIES. How evil must you be, how black-fucking-hearted, that you could happily kill a fucking puppy? A PUPPY! This:

LOOK AT THAT FACE. SHE KILLS THOSE. EVIL CUNT. Just because it doesn't have a big ugly ridge that is a sign that that particular breed of dog is on its way out!!

I DON'T GET IT Y'ALL. IT'S A BABY ANIMAL. WHAT THE FUCKING HELL.

This is why humanity can't have nice things. It'll get to the point where these animals will just die out. And they'll have nobody to blame but themselves, stupid bastards.
