logansrogue: (Queen :: Going Slightly Mad...)
Man. I was sitting here at work, typing in stuff when Delta Goodrem's "Out of the Blue" came on the radio. First I was confronted with a string of melody that sounded a little too close for that Silverchair song "Watching You Watch Over Me" and I think that she's going to use that little melody to really carry the song, because it's the only memorable piece of melody in the damn thing.

Then the song goes somewhere else entirely, dredging around the depths of cheese and predictability. The production is great, the instruments are wonderful and swelling, but they have nowhere to swell to. Nowhere to go to. The song is, quite simply, mediocre and dull.

It just shits me that so many people go on about how great this woman is. I don't mind people liking her, I really don't. I just don't think she's a swag-full of Arias worth, ya know? Australia is filled with much better solo singer-songwriter women than her. Shit. Tina Arena, Kate Ceberano - they freaking rock. They make Delta look like a squeaky little bitch.

I pulled out my mp3 player and cranked the Neil Young until she was over. Cause I tell you. I can put up with a lot of stuff on the radio, but Delta Goodrem? No freaking way. >_<

ETA: They played another one of hers. Some stupid song where she tries to sing really high notes, a sort of 'heeeeeeee-eeee!' and she totally CAN'T DO IT. It was PAINFUL. Now, I know I can't sing that high for that long. But you know what? I don't TRY because I like the people that listen to my music. *Grumps*
