All I can say is...I LOVE THIS TOWN! In the local press the whole story reads like a happy ending to a romantic movie; everyone is happy, and the newlyweds are beaming with joy. Good stuff.
I loved the vibe when I visited. I could only go for a day trip, never got to see the clubs or the nice restaurants or anything, but I did see some LOVELY shoe stores and went to all the strip shops and bought cheap shit. I loved it SO much there! :)
A judge told the anti-marriage people to come back Tuesday, so that leaves this entire weekend for people to marry in SF. (City Hall is making an exception and staying open Sunday.) Unfortunately many are being turned away because the clerk's office is running way over capacity and can't keep up with demand. They say they normally do 20-30 licenses per day, and now they're doing 50-60 licenses per hour.
God bless Mayor Newsom! The guy's a great-looking straight Irish Catholic with a bombshell wife of two years; as pointed out in the Chronicle, who better to spearhead this political maneuver?
One thing's for sure: this is going to be a long fight, and the gloves are off. Let's get ready to Ruuuuuummmmmbllllleee!
