I don't know if it's my hormones (periods are a-comin!) or whether I'm just getting older and notice this shit more, but the world just keeps pissing me off today. And I have paintings to do. Hopefully the painkillers will kick in soon and I'll be chilling out.

It's not what I take them for (I take them for the pain, which is around constantly, HELLO, bladder infection from HELL!) but it's certainly helpful in these situations. I get a benefit from the opiates I take - so sue me. People act like I'm a crack addict when I say I enjoy the high I get from the Dolased I have to take. Inside my head, I'm like, "Ooh, 20mg once a day or so... I'm a complete fucking addict." But that's my bad mood talking.

What's some good music you're enjoying now? I need something fresh to listen to as I paint.

I'm having one of those days too.

Have you heard much Emilie Autumn? I've only just discovered her, and I reckon anybody who can play jazz on a harpsichord (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcANKEzSGKI) (or at least on a keyboard set to harpsichord :P ) is pretty awesome. A lot of her other music is quite depressing though, and frequently touches on mental illness, institutionalisation, misogyny, and the intersections between them. so if you're not in the mood for sad/angry songs then maybe don't look too far into her other stuff.

For unashamed nerd rock I really like Kirby Krackle, but I freely admit their lyrics are not the greatest, and at least some of there songs are problematic. But they are fun, and they have heart, which makes up for a lack of polish. (At least for me.)

Give them a listen, and see what you think. At the very least, I'm interested in hearing your opinion on them.

I've recently discovered 30 Seconds to Mars and I've been listening to them all week.

Also, I first heard this song on a commercial and it's an old, fun, folksy song that I LOVE: Chugjug by Family of the Year

I second the Mumford & Sons rec. Metric, The Swell Season and The Kills are pretty awesome to listen to as well. :)
