My head feels like a sack of meat. I can't talk straight. I'm numb from my temple to my chin to behind my fucking ear.

I'm also going to have to have dental surgery at some point on my wisdom teeth. Oh YAY. It's going to majorly suck balls. I'm going to be in hideous amounts of pain as they are going to have to chip away at bone. I'll most likely be put under a general anaesthetic. I do not look forward to waking up. Those fuckers better give me the best painkillers money can buy.

My dentist at the moment is a lovely young lady called Raja. She was wearing the prettiest white beaded hijab with a big blue rhinestone pin, I was so wishing I had one like it. But in purple or lilac or something. ETA: It occured to me as I was getting my toofs drilled up, that the woman working on me would have to be very clever, independent and driven to succeed i in dentistry. I mean, you'd have to be committed, and caring. I mean, this young woman is so sweet, she held my hand when the big needle came out because I'm so scared of needles. She's the nicest dentist I've ever had. Kind of a huge contrast to the Muslim Boogeyman that gets banged on about by the mainstream media. I consider myself lucky that I've grown up around people from all around the world and of varying faiths. It's given me the opportunity to not be frightened by something different.

I wish everyone that was frightened of this mythical Other could know the lovely people I've met from around the world. It's such a comforting thing to know that we're all human beings, just the same as one another, just as frightened and excited and horrified and hopeful and determined and lazy and all those wonderfully human things. Anyway!

In unrelated news, I'm still seeing Daniel and it's been about two months now. I think we're doing all right. We're just having fun and taking it a week at a time, ya know?

Anyway, I've been sucked into the Sims 3 hole. Where-as before I was anti Sims 3, I started playing the new extension packs and I'm just a little bit fucking hooked. World Adventures is awesome, and Ambitions is wicked fun. The next EP will have pianos, so I have to get that one too!

I'll probably do a post with my screen grabs. :)

*Hugs*

I had a root canal in high school. I put it right after childbirth in terms of WTF pain. (Not trying to scare you. Just being honest.) But I sure loved the painkillers I was after the procedure! *wink*

For what it's worth, I found post-operative pain from my laparoscopies much worse than from having my wisdom teeth removed. I had the two right wisdoms removed under general anaesthetic because they had to cut into my jawbone too. And they gave me proper painkillers (although TBH I didn't end up needing to take all of them). Of course the recovery sucks for reasons other than pain, like not being able to open your jaw much, and YMMV on the pain thing anyway, but it might not be as horrifying as you think <3

I hope so. I remember my second lap being bad enough that I had to stay in hospital for a night, and they were offering me another night but I was off my skull on drugs and just wanted to go home (I regretted that decision later). The pain from the second lap was pretty bad. If it's less than that, then I'll cope all-right cause I survived the lap pain.

I had some bone shaved away when I got my wisdom teeth out. It took almost a year to heal completely and was touch sensitive for a long time. Not unmanageable by any means, just annoying. My mom had none and my sister sister had half of a wisdom tooth. I got all of them and a freaky shaved bone problem. Just the typical distribution of suck in my family. :)

Yeah, my little sister had to have her wisdoms out too. My main worry is swollen-face.

I got a new dentist recently. The first thing I said when I sat in the chair is "It's nothing personal, but I really hate dentists. Can I have a prescription for Valium so I don't bite off your hand, please?"

It's amazing how well that works.

Wisdom tooth surgery isn't too bad. I got knocked the hell out for mine. Woke up and was given Percocet. Mmmmmmm, there's nothing like annealing to the couch paralyzed because the drugs are that good.

Yeah, good drugs make surgery okay. I love drifting off to sleep after the hit of drugs. It's like I'm in extreme panic and fear and then suddenly, aaahhhh. Everything is going to be ooookaaaay! And then you wake up and it's all AARGH!

I can never understand the thinking (if there in fact is any) behind cries to ban the burqa. As far as I can work out, the net effect of it would be that women from ultra-orthodox Muslim homes would never be able to leave the house again. And yeah, that's gonna help. Woo, freedom!

Also, toothy ouches :(

Yeah I don't get it either. The point of feminism is that you SUPPORT what women choose to do. Shaving your legs can be feminist because YOU CHOOSE IT as a woman, and you're not pressured by society. The emphasis is on the choice of the woman.
