I miss fandom.

I've been so busy with my original projects in the last year that I've spent no time on fan projects. Every time I start them, I feel terrible, like I'm neglecting the important stuff. But expressing my fannish side is important to me. I think Doctor Who portraits, and portraits of my favourite characters in various shows, is all I do in the fan stakes anymore.

Do you miss my writing or my less finished art pieces? Let me know. I know I miss being in a fandom. I miss the friendships and the conversations and the wait for the new episodes of whatever. Problem is, Britain is the place making all the good shows, and the only make those shows for six to thirteen episodes. Sometimes even less. Makes a sustained fandom run harder. I get distracted otherwise.

My biggest fandoms are Doctor Who, Firefly and Final Fantasy, but I'll be interested in any works of fandoms that I know well enough to follow.

It's an every swinging balance, I am in exactly the same position as you are, though with (and I am trying to be modest, but..) several people who email me regularly to find out when the next update is coming. I too feel the strain of balance and miss either the original, when I'm working on fan things, and miss the fan things when working on original. Go figure.

Me, I'm happy to see whatever you are in the frame of mind to produce, the important thing to me is that whatever it is, it keeps coming.

I really like your art. That Eleventh Doctor painting you did was just amazing, as was the Fourth Doctor one you were working on a while ago. But I like your original art as well, so I really have no complaints. Still, it'd be nice to have you back in fandom! I always like hearing your thoughts on Doctor Who, for example.
