- I'm not the hugest fan of River Song, I hated her in that last episode she was in. But I really, really like her shoes.
- It's his top lip that's sexy. That's what it is.
- Don't you dare make me like you, River.
- "They're blue Boringers!"
- Ah. I get it. The reason why River is better this time is because she's MORE LIKE ROMANA. I wish River was Romana. I like Romana better. :(
- He just imitated the TARDIS. OH GOD. HE IS SO CUTE.
- I do get tired of River being right. No chance of me liking her this time round, then.
- Amelia, however, makes me like her more and more. "Are you Mr. Grumpy-Face today?"
- RUN AMY RUN!!!
- Okay that is *very* Ringu.
- Amy, I love you. I LOVE YOU.
- NO. Nothing bad happen to our lovely Amy! NOTHING!
- Ooh. She's evil. I could have told you that.
- Wouldn't it be LOLarious if she was the Master? Totally gay. Totally hot. But no, life wouldn't be that good to me.
- Oh, sod off, River.
- Soldiers we don't know. SO in for it.
- Sacred Bob. LOL!
- Okay, I got the two heads thing as soon as they said it. And I'm not bright.
- OH SHIT, AMY!
- Space teeth! ROFLMAO! He bit her! ROFLMAO!
- That cliffhanger? That right there? SO OLD SCHOOL. I LIKE IT! I DO I DO!! I don't know why it's old school. Maybe it's the "PEEEOOOOOWWWWWWW" YES! THAT'S WHAT IT IS! I heard that and I was FIVE AGAIN!

I really, really like River.

I particularly like the short exchange here between her and the Bishop that strongly suggests that River is not precisely who she's told the Doctor she is.

River is horrible. She's a total Mary-Sue and I hate her. Probably doesn't help that I really don't like the way the actress plays her.

I'm probably coming from a very different direction to you, which is:

- I loved Alex Kingston for about six seasons on ER.
- I loved her so much that when Sonia rushed to see Christian Slater live on stage in London I rushed with her cause he was co-starring with Alex Kingston.
- I don't think she's a Mary Sue at all. I think the term Mary Sue gets horribly overused by people to the point now where it's meaningless - it used to mean the author slipping themselves into fanfic to save the day, and now it means any character with talents in excess of the protagonist.

I loved her in ER. I hate her in this! I think you like her because you're a guy and you're not attracted to the Doctor. LOL.

I'm not misusing Mary-Sue. She's a classic case. The only woman I bought being better at flying the TARDIS than the Doctor is Romana, and that's because she was taught how to for years and years and years and is over a hundred years old.

You're not going to change my mind on this, darling. I can't stand the woman.

I saw that you like River, but I'm a stodgy bitch that hates her, not gonna change that. Not unless there's some seriously spectacular writing somewhere down the line.

But I do love Amy.

You also know that I'm not interested in converting everyone to my point of view, so if you don't like her, hey, different strokes and all that. I wasn't a huge fan of her for the first part of the Library two-parter either, to be honest - it was fandom that made me love her enough that I was genuinely looking forward to seeing her this time around.

Happily, my flist seems to be united in its love of Amy. For she is quite magnificent, y/y? :D

She's brilliant. And in a totally not-annoying way. <3 It's those big eyes, I think, and that cheeky smile. And the fact she's Scottish.

I don't get why some people hate the miniskirts. The girl's got gams, she's comfortable in her sexuality, let her rumble in a skirt! Sheesh! I have heaps of short skirts, and I'm the most feministy person I know, outside of the people at the feminist blogs I hang out at.

I don't wear miniskirts, but I do own knee-high black high-heeled boots (my friends call them "the Fuck Me Boots", known just as The Boots for short), and I do like wearing them out. I'm a girl, I've got a sexuality, I know what looks good on me, damn right I'm going to enjoy that! I mean, with Amy there's the bonus of me getting to look at her lovely legs, but hey, same principle still applies. Ain't nothing wrong with a girl looking good if that's what makes her feel comfortable and happy about herself. Isn't that partly what this whole feminism lark is about?

Want to bet that if the spoilers are true and the Doctor really does give Amy and Rory a ride around the universe for their honeymoon, parts of fandom will whinge and bitch about how, by submitting to the archaic and misogynist institution of marriage, Amy is setting feminism back a bazillion years and ought to be sacrificed to the Feminist Goddesses or something?

I read someone online describe the relationship that's developing between Amy and the Doctor as that of an eager little sister and a dorky big brother, and I saw a lot of that in this weekend's episode. It's delightful - if anything it reminds me most of Tom Baker and Sarah Jane.

I'm just happy that, thus far, there's been no romance shenanigans. That sort of shit makes me want to slap the screen.

I did like that Moffat was apparently unsatisfied with making children across the English-speaking world terrified of statues. He now wants to make them terrified of watching their televisions as well. Ring for the under-tens!

It's a brilliant conceit: don't stop looking at them, otherwise you'll die. But don't look at them, otherwise you'll die. Don't look at a photograph of them. Don't watch them on telly. Don't draw a picture of them. You'll die.

Basically if you meet a Weeping Angel you are now fucked.

The thing is (and I'm honestly not trying to change your mind, just chatting!) we don't know who she is. The short exchange between her and the Bishop indicate that we really don't know who she is. We don't know under what circumstances she learned to drive the TARDIS and we don't really know what her true agenda is.

I completely disagree she's a Mary Sue - Moffat is far, far too talented a writer to slip into that mistake.

Strangely - if she turns out evil, I'll love her. Cause I like evil people. If she's evil, then it'll make sense and it'll balance out and my Chi will be centred and all would be good with the Universe.

But for now she's getting on my tits.

I also want to say that I don't *blindly* hate her, (It's been some time since the episode so I'm mellowing). I like her in moments. Like when she was telling Amy she's brilliant. That was sweet. It's just when she's all full of herself I get ratted off. But I'm starting to feel like that's a deliberate thing. DON'T PLAY ME, MOFFAT.

Oh Moffat plays with his audience with reckless abandon.

The thing that keeps circulating in my head is that Moffat is a writer whose best episode blindside his audience and surprise with twists, complex and often non-linear narratives and the sorts of writing cleverness that makes me want to scream.

He used to do that episode by episode.

Now someone's put him in charge of three seasons. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey here we go - I've a growing feeling this season is going to start throwing up a lot of surprises.

The only thing I like about River is how uncomfortable she makes the Doctor. It would be hilarious if she made him think she was his future wife and turns out never to be, because really I don't see him going for that, but he's a man of odd tastes. Anyway, I loved that Donna could make him squirm, and so I like that River does it in another way. A blatantly and unapologetically sexual way.

I would LOVE it if she were the Master. My husband thinks she's actually the 13th Doctor, and that's why she knows so much. That'd be funny too, but in a really creepy narcissistic way.

I am loving Amy, although she pegs him almost too quickly. But I'm a little underwhelmed by Matt Smith. I was soooo hot for Ten by the fourth episode in, and I'm meh about Eleven. I think it's the way he uses his screwdriver. He kinda waves it haphazardly and then looks at it cross-eyed.

It was a great episode and hard-core spooky! I love the Angels, and I love the Doctor when he gets angry (although I miss those wild eyebrows). And yeah, pretty much best thing ever: Sacred Bob. I want to change my name to Sacred Becca.

Do it. You're now Sacred Becca.

I like Matt Smith, but that's because he sort of reminds me of Five looks-wise. I was disappointed that they didn't use him more in the last episode. I felt it was lacking him in some way. Maybe cause that's the first episode they did and he wasn't fully into the role yet? Maybe.

I miss David Tennant too! <3 But I am slowly falling for Matt Smith. He has a really lovely top lip.
