Letting ideology get in the way of reason is never a good thing.

When people stop putting the welfare of an unborn foetus above the welfare of a living adult woman, feminism - and, indeed, humanism - will have achieved one of its ultimate goals.

I think the thing that infuriates me the most is the attitude that these most militant "pro-life" people have: 'Save the baby at all cost, but it's okay if the woman who is carrying the child can die, because after all, she's just the incubator.' Also, what's really interesting about these folks is that they also tend to be rabidly pro death penalty. There's a lot of irony there. Women who decide to have late-term abortions aren't doing this on a whim because they don't want the child: these babies really have something horribly wrong with them.

My sympathies to Dr. Tiller's family. He was a brave man, and to see that we've lost somebody of his caliber to a nutcase is just frightening. I hope that the two remaining doctors in the U.S. who perform these compassionate acts will be well-protected :-(

If I were them I'd be asking for an armed fucking guard. It's hideous that these people have to live in fear. Someone called it "domestic terrorism" and it is. It absolutely is.
