You're painfully uneducated in this argument, Keg. There are plenty of reasons why Scientology is not a religion. And even if it *were* a religion, it doesn't matter. It is the practices of this so-called 'religion' that I'm protesting, not the whacky beliefs themselves. I mean, you don't see me ragging on the Raelians, do you? Hell - a polyamorous UFO cult with hot asian girls? Sign me up!

But when you get dipshits like this making children work eighteen hours a day and keeping them away from their parents, I get pissed and I start making noise.

Oh hey, don't me wrong, I am 100% behind you in agreeing that Scientology is amazingly wrong and bad.

I was just pointing out that people tend to ignore other groups that do the same things as scientology. Largely because they are 'Religions' and people get offended when you start to question them too much.

I in no way wish to cause you to get cranky or be offended. :P

Oh and I happen to think Whaling is very bad and that we should be giving Japan a darn good spanking for being dicks.

As for Feminism... I'm a big fan of feminist movies. I'm something of a connoisseur ;)

You mean 'cults', I think.

I think religion, when treated sensibly, is a relatively good thing; it teaches morals (you do agree that 'it is wrong to commit murder' is a moral precept, right?), encourages the development of a community (congregation, community, same diff) and offers emotional support within its community.

I won't say they are perfect, and everyone must review their beliefs and decide for themselves if they really believe them. But there are weak people out there who can't say 'I won't steal because I know it is wrong'; if it's them saying 'I won't steal because God tells me not to' that keeps my wallet in my purse, then I'm all for the Church that drummed it into their heads.
