Happy Birthday, Bee!
Jun. 25th, 2007 02:50 pmIt's that time of the year - lots of people having birthdays. In particular it's the birthday of my very best girl friend, someone I went through high school with, remained friends with through both of us going to different tertiary studies and knowing different people and finally *still* being best buddies even though she's living in Melbourne now.
I remember dancing with her to the Violent Femmes in her room. I remember running away in the middle of the night with her and Aggie and going to play on playground equipment while they smoked cigarettes. I remember sitting with her during lunch and laughing at the kids who thought they were really cool. Ironic thing was we were friends with a good bunch of them by year 12! I lose count of the times we went and had a coffee together at a cafe and just talked for ages. Art class was always fun, I loved having a friend that understood what art was about.
That's the beauty of Bianca. She's very different from me in some ways, but underneath it all there's a core of similarity between us. She feels more like a sister to me than a friend and I miss her *terribly*. But I know that the rigours of life and the distance between us can't dull the fact that we're buddies. Besides - I can always embarrass her over Myspace. The internet - making the world smaller since the 90s. :D
