You know what people?
May. 19th, 2007 03:54 pmEvery time a man stands up for a womans right, I get really happy. A guy that cares for the rights of his fellow human beings, regardless of their chromosomal make-up, is fucking AWESOME and it makes me love them SO MUCH.
In other news, last night I fell over and smacked my face on a hard wooden bunk bed. My jaw and chin are now sore and slightly swollen. Not hugely, only I would notice the difference. The only annoying thing was, in this cold biting weather, I had to sit in bed with ice on my face.

Date: 2007-05-19 03:21 pm (UTC)To be fair, no one ever had to teach me about "all people are created equal". I had good parents. But it was Karen of GRC that got me on board with realizing the influence of the bad tendencies, tropes, and general disrespect that the comics industry shows women, in general. I was aware of some of it, but not all of it. And though I was aware of it, I didn't take it that seriously before.
Now I take it seriously. I pay attention to when a woman tells me something like this. You can't be a a *real* nice guy (http://blog.shrub.com/archives/tekanji/2006-03-08_146) unless you listen.

If you are male in a male supremest world,if you are to become a fully functioning adult,at some point you have to reject the idea that your worth comes from having been born with a penis.
An injury to one is an injury to all, etc.

Date: 2007-05-23 06:50 am (UTC)You seem to be a logical, sympathetic human being. A lot of guys in the comic industry just don't think like that, and it makes me sad. So I tend to forget it's just the normal, right thing to do.

You have really got to get a less dangerous bed - the top bunk has always been perilously close to the bottom. I'm surprised you don't hit your head on it everyday (a shortarse like me could get away with it, but not you!)
Emma bunged her head the other day by doing a massive stack in the dark and hitting her head on the end of a massive jarrah bed head...it was kind of funny at the time consdiering she was trying to be really careful not to be noisy (she was sharing a room with her flamate for a week, cos she had to wait for her new bed to be delivered)
