Not many people outside of Australia would know who Billy Thorpe is. Hell, I don't think too many people IN Australia under the age of thirty would know who he is. To say it simply, he wrote that song with the line "Most people I know think that I'm craaa-aaa-zeeee!"
But to be more accurate, he was the forerunner of Australian Rock, the Grand-daddy of the pub-band with the hard sound that you couldn't keep still to. ACDC owe a lot to what Billy started. And besides all that - he was a brilliant musician that Australians could be thoroughly proud of. He was in league with the greatest global acts of the time, as good as anything anyone else had going.
He was only 60 when he died of a heart attack. He had only been rocking out that morning. What a trooper.
