I've sort of stopped taking codeine, only taking one per day (instead of taking two to six per day). So my level is dropping. I haven't taken any in hours and I'm now in some pain. Gut pain. Feels like post-op pain.

I don't know what to do. I'm really sore, I want to take painkillers. Codeine and something is all I have in the house. Paracetamol does nothing. I have some anti-inflammatories the doctors gave me for when I came home, so I guess I could take them. I guess I'm annoyed that I'm sore again. Am I going to have to be on some level of codeine for the rest of my days?!

ETA: Fuck it. I took two nurofen plusses. I'm too sore not to. When the pain is actually *throbbing*, you know you got to do something about it.

But hey! At least the pain is only at night now. During the day I can actually get up and do things!! :D

When I read that quick, I thought you said, "I stopped taking cocaine." I thought, man, her pain must have gotten bad for a while!

Hmm, maybe that's what you need!

I don't know exactly how it compares, but after my breast reduction I was on painkillers for a rather long time. I had to slowly work my way off of them, and the doctor started giving me lower doses as well, but I used pain killers for about two months. So ya know, give it time. *shrugs*

Yay for no daytime pains!!

Sounds like codeine withdrawal. You may need to withdraw from it more slowly, otherwise you'll get gut pains and nausea and feel ick. Your GP may be able to help out with this too.

Thanks, Karen. I'm going to make an appointment with my GP tomorrow cause I'm not doing this very well on my own.

Yeah, when pain is *pulsing*, it's time to take a painkiller. *hugs*

Question: Why does withdrawing from codeine give me gut pains? That's so weird!

You seen Trainspotting? Opiate withdrawal can get a whole lot worse than just the gut pain...
