I had a dream I was Roger Daltrey's wife. Yes. Roger effin' Daltrey. SO weird. I'm not even attracted to him! And we were having marriage problems of some sort. But our house was *really* super nice. And he was a good kisser. *laugh*

I told this to my brother, rather embarrassedly, and he just laughed and said, "Dude, *I'VE* had that dream before!"

Yes. Roger has rather an exalted status in this family. As do members of most legendary rock bands. LOL.

Totally understandable.

I was just thinking about Roger Daltrey the other day, and how he doesn't get the credit he deserves. My sister was in love with him for about five years - totally freaking idolized him and wanted to marry him and taped his appearances on "Highlander" and everything. She's over that now but we still really like him, and I was thinking about how Paul McCartney got all this press during his last tour about how he still sings his old songs in the original key and how that's so rare, etc; no one ever mentions that Roger Daltrey does that too, and most of his songs involve belting out the high notes and holding them. And Paul looks about 70 now whereas Roger looks about 45-50. Maybe not quite that much, I dunno, but he looks freakin' HOT whereas Paul looks even a bit older than his age. So Roger needs props, and though I'm with you on the "not attracted to him" part I think I'd probably have the same exact kind of dream. ;D

Don't think you're alone on that. I had dreams about the aul' man for months while I was deep in Zep territory. Always as he is now, though. Huh.

Mind you, I'm gonna see him at Somerset House in London on Monday, so it might kick off again.

I dunno where you are, but he gets plenty o' coverage here in England but a lot of the time it's actually for his work with the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The man is a legend of legends. Paul gets all this credit because he knows he needs it: Roger doesn't, so he doesn't have to seek it.

That's not a bad dream to have- better than my most recent 'rock' one, which involved being proposition by note by Jon BonFucking Jovi. Ick of ickness. Never watch music video channels just before going to bed.

Interestingly, Roger has said recently that he's found out in the last couple of years that he has five (at least) children from down the years that he never knew about. And this is the well behaved one of The Who.

You know, it's great to know that he gets recognition in England, b/c here in the US nobody seems to even know his name. I didn't even know about his affiliation with the Teenage Cancer Trust. I get the feeling that over here we make a big to-do over Paul because he's one of the few Brits whom everyone knows. :P

Roger is the EFFING MAN. Paul wishes he was cool as Roger is.

Roger did DRAG, dude. And was a villain in a cool TV show. Was McCartney ever a villain? Nooooo!

I'd stab myself in the face before allowing such a thing to happen.

Still, he might yet clean up his act permanently, become a decent human being and make some decent music. He'd win some respect off me then.

I can't see it happening, and that's the fucking tragedy. If I did pity the cunt so much I really would hate him. Reminds me too much of a talentless version of a man I loved so well, once.

Yeah. He just makes me mad by being a thoroughly BAD example for young people. Just... SO BAD.

RIGHT!

Jim didn't make such a fuss over his addictions. He NEVER made himself look cool BECAUSE OF IT. He was a PARIAH because of the stuff he did in the end... and Pete gets voted COOLEST PERSON of the year by the fucktard NME.

The greatest drug songs in my opinion, are the ones that speak of the pain- Cold Turkey by John Lennon, Got To Give It Up by Thin Lizzy, that lot. None of the old guys ever paraded their addictions like badges of honour. They knew what they were doing was bad for them, but they did it anyway because of whatever.

I just WISH Pete lives, if only because I've seen this cliche before. I don't care about Pete remotely, but his fans... his poor fucking fans. I know the pain doesn't get better down the years. I know it. I've seen it done it felt it been it, and for someone FAR worthier than that fucker.

But you know it too, don't you?

He's worked with the Teenage Cancer Trust for years- mostly in organising a series of concerts every year at the Royal Albert Hall with SERIOUSLY BIG NAMES. Last year I went to see Robert Plant as part of it and Roger came out at the end and they skipped (honestly) off stage arm in arm. Made Rog look REALLY short compared to Perce...

He usually gets the year's big names as well as some established guys and it runs over a week and he does something at the end. I also found out recently he's one of the RD Crusaders, a band made up of this publisher guy, Richard Desmond (started in porn, now big in newspapers), Roger, Plant and some others.

He doesn't have the same profile over here as Paul, and I'm sure if you mentioned him to most twenty-soemthing girls they'd only recognise him if you said 'the dad from Buddy's Song'... but he lives exactly as he wishes to, I think.

I don't think Paul can lay claim to that.

Yes. Ohhhh, yes. Felt it quite freshly recently for Marvin Gaye. What a waste. *sigh* (Though half his problem was a bullet in the head).
