Hey all.

I talked to Helen today. The baby is fine. She (it's a girl) is now in foster care, and the father has been committed to psychiatric care. The police can't find the mother.

So - the baby is all right. I guess Helen really did save its life.

That's wonderful. I really do think your sis saved her life...that's incredible.

Will they continue to give her updates about the baby, do you think?

Dunno. Probably not. As long as it's alive, that's enough for Helen, I think.

*nods*

I was surprised a bit, actually, that they'd told her that much....but I'm glad they did, as I'm sure you all are!

Good news on the baby and glad that she'll be okay - along with the father. I hope he gets the help he needs too. And yay for Helen :-)

I meant to reply yesterday but fell asleep:

Your sister is astounding, she really is. In this country people have been stabbed to death on buses while other passengers turned away.
I always thought I'd be the sort to step up to the metaphorical plate, but I don't know and I hope I never have to find out. If I do, I hope I can remember Helen and be as brave as her.

Mind you, I happen to think you're pretty amazing too.

*hugs to you both*

That's wonderful. I wonder what happened to the mother, though.

It makes me think

I just watched 'Bad Boy Bubby'. That story about your sister saving that child really got me thinking.
I mean, we all know Bubby's happy ending is bullshit. In real life, Bubby's story would not have ended that way.
Just imagine what that child could have turned into.

You're sister is my new hero. I wanna be like her - I hope if anything like that ever happens while I'm around that I'll be able to stop it just like her :D

But what if it ends up like in Spiderman where the guy kills Peter's uncle even after Peter put himself out to help him.

DAAAAAMN.

I meant to say so before, but that's an amazingly brave and wonderful thing your sister did, good for her.

The poor baby, I'm glad to hear it's alright. I totally believe that she saved it's life as well.

Nacey, I wanted to know if it'd be okay for me to mention this story in my sermon Sunday. It fits in with what I'm talking about (taking notice of the people in need on the edges of society). I won't mention Helen by name, but I'd like to share a true story of someone standing up for what's right.
