I actually "put together" the name "Eirian" with the idea of having a Gaelic kind of name, so I'm very excited that it's of Welsh origin.

My Eirian character is an adventurous girl with long black hair and silver eyes (the fact that it happens to mean "silver" makes that even cooler!) who wanders into the castle of a dark mage and ends up having an enchantment put upon her so that she doesn't remember who she is. She spends seven years serving the mage, and by that time, her younger brother is seventeen years old and sets out to find her.

I also have "Airiean" as a possible name for my daughter, when I have one. (The other possibilities are Gynevieve and Airielle.)

OHHhhh! It's from Godspell. Yep. Nancy Elizabeth Arielle Lorenz. (I don't know if I should be sharing my full name on the net but since I put Nancy Lorenz on everything I do I figure the damage is already done).

Funny thing is, when I was a kid, nobody would believe me that it was my real middle name, cause of the Little Mermaid. Amused the hell out of me that they didn't believe me.
