Movie-ing my BRAINS out.
Jan. 2nd, 2006 09:09 pmSaw TWO movies today!
Legend of Zorro was effing AWESOME!! I LOVED IT! It's not going to win any Oscars but it had me on the edge of my seat a couple of times and I was all into it, uber-kiddy like, clutching my face and bouncing in my chair. His little kid was SO FUCKING CUTE!! Oh, and I love their accents! Antonio kept cracking me up, I swear, every time he plays Daddy a puppy gets its wings. It's the sexiest thing he does in the movies! And CTZ? Oh darling, do you ever not look abso-fucking-lutely perfect? The woman pwns me with her breathtaking beauty. Over and over and over. *happy sigh* Over all - a great friggin' flick. Oh and the bit where the peasants husband gets shot? FUCK. That was acted *really* well! Actually made me all sad!
Shaolin Soccer is as nutty and bizarre as Kung Fu Hustle... and it actually had me laughing so hard I couldn't breath. It was the bit where he was playing against the gangster soccer team for the first time, and the joke about it being like war... oh man. Him hiding behind his team mate was one thing. Him going across the field on his elbows - that's pretty funny too. But no - Stephen takes the joke and pushes it and pushes it and I was crying and clutching my sides, fighting for breath cause it kept getting funnier and funnier. And his movies always have really gorgeously cute love stories in them. I LOVE those!! And him running around shirtless? Nacey crack. Fer real. I just can NOT get enough of that shit. Want to see more movies with him in it. :)
My Mum doesn't know the difference between Helen Hunt and Jodie Foster. I know the difference. I can't stand Helen Hunt and I LOVE Jodie Foster. Gah. What an annoying mix-up.
Movies on my to see list:
- Memoirs of a Geisha
- The DaVinci Code (Just cause I like seeing Ian McKellan act)
- The Producers (Will wait till it's on video or on the net. I LOVE UMA but ... eh. How could Matthew Broderick POSSIBLY follow Gene Wilder's act? It's tricky).
- Brokeback Mountain (DUH).

Date: 2006-01-02 04:30 pm (UTC)I've heard good reviews of The Producers. Somebody else on my FL saw it - and didn't know that what's playing in the movies is actually a remake. She's 16, so I can excuse her on that one ;-) She likes Gene Wilder, though, so I recommended the original version to her to rent, as a special version DVD has just come out over here in the States. I think she'll like it a lot!

Date: 2006-01-02 04:33 pm (UTC)As for me, I'd like to see Kong, but I'll probably wait for video, Narnia (video), Rumor Has It (despite being a Friends movie, I love Mark Ruffalo). I think that's it for now. I think it may be another slow movie year - but worse than last year as no Star Wars or HP to brighten it up.

Date: 2006-01-03 01:28 am (UTC)I'm looking forward to the same movies you listed, except that I didn't even know they were making a DaVinci Code film. Huh. But if it has Sir Ian in it I suspect I shall have to go and see it anyway :)
