Point form, because I'm too incoherent with headaches to form proper narratives.
- I've been sick for about six weeks due to the drug I was on. Norspan. I'm coming off it or something, and now I have headaches. I thought it was my ears that were doing it, but two doctors said my ears were fine. I'm now paranoid my dust mite allergies are at such a terrible level that they are making me constantly sick and migrainey. Or it could be hayfever, I'm not sure. I've never had hayfever before, that I know of. I forget the last time I had clear nasal passages, however.
- D (boyfriend) and I are doing great. It's been nearly a year and a half now, and I'm as happy as when we started, and just as in love. Actually, that's not true. I am probably more in love with him than I was when I started, but that's to be expected. He continues to challenge me in positive ways, to make me laugh, to treasure me in the way I need and to also be a little irreverent and shit-stirring in the way that I have to have (or I go insane from too much sweetness). The best thing about D is that I don't feel like a different person with him, I don't feel like I have to change. Anyway, I'm very happy. I've waited a long time for a relationship like this.
- Uni has had me run off my ever-lovin' feet, but I'm getting a bit of a break until February, which I will have to squish in a bunch of work for Swancon. Costume and paintings. I'm getting faster at painting (if you'd believe it) and I'm going to do a bunch of small-scale, affordable, fandomy works, so if you're interested in anything, please lemme know. I am very definitely doing a portrait of Amy Pond. Titian would have an orgasm over that girl's hair. Anyway, I had to withdraw from the unit I'm currently doing due to health problems, but I'm doing it again in the middle of the year.
- I haven't had the chance to go swimming in the ocean this summer yet, mainly because I'm too fucking scared of sharks. My favourite beaches are where the sharks keep turning up! I like swimming in nature reserves and reefs and, you know, not too safe if you're wearing flippers and snorkles and you're chasing fish to look at 'em. CHOMP. Lots of people are going swimming though, so you know, Jaws? That movie is full of shit. People will go swimming no matter what. There could be a fucking megalodon in those waters, but if it's stonkin' fucking hot like it is here in Perth, they will go in anyway. Ask any lifesaver around here. People are STUPID. There was a five metre tiger shark spotted recently, and there've been white pointers as well. So, you know, I'm glad that there are sharks in our waters that are healthy and happy and shit, but, you know, I'm not so crazy about risking my life this year. It's just easier to go to the pool. But I might get brave before the summer is out, cause Dad and I drove past Cottesloe and the water looks *SO GOOD*. So turqoise, so bright. It smells so delightful, salty and fresh and just a hint of seaweed. God, I love that smell. Makes my blood run faster! Makes my mermaid heart cry for the sea!
- LOTS of parrots and galahs visiting my yard this summer. I think a population of Red-Tailed Black Cockatoos was displaced by the developments in Nedlands around the hospital, cause they've been frequenting our yard a lot, which has a LOT of trees in it. I'm more than happy to see them around, and hear them (Hoo boy are they noisy). They're huge birds, much bigger than the Carnaby's Black Cockatoos we usually get. They're so beautiful, though! We also have Corellas, Port Lincoln parrots, Rainbow Lorikeets and Pink and Grey Galahs that fly through. I love our parroty birds! They're super cute. I love the way they walk! Our group of magpies is doing well. It seems that Romana and Sarah Jane have both died, as Romana had a wounded eye and her tongue was hanging out, and Sarah Jane was depending on her a couple of houses down. Haven't seen either of them since. I was hoping Romana would pull through, because her Dad, Odin, was a tough bird that survived losing an eye. The Main Five (Odin, Spotty, She-Ra, Leela and Ripley) are all doing great. They've been fighting the yearly gathering of the Juvenile Single Raven's Club. They're here every Christmas because they know my Dad will leave the turkey carcas out for them. He's decided to stop doing that though, cause the fuckers keep eating our produce. I'm growing strawberries, and Mum and Dad are growing tomatoes. Bright red fruit? Instant Raven Food. :( They're also eating our figs, but that's okay cause it's hilarious. I don't know if you can imagine seeing a raven walk around on its feets, carrying a fig over its beak as big as its head. They are *so* bloody funny. We put a ping-pong ball out for them one day, and they chased it all over the joint. It's disappeared now, though.
- My kitties are good. Lenny is old and hungry, and Rogue is squishy and happy. D has decided that Rogue is now *his* cat.
- I have been thoroughly enjoying the new Sherlock. I didn't think I could love it more than I already did, and then I saw Hound of the Baskervilles. Loved it.
- Merlin: Awesome. Awesome. And more awesome. Plus Sir Gwaine, I've decided, is my new TV Boyfriend. Here's a picture I made of Gwen, btw:
( Season 4 Spoilers )
- My career in art! It has been moving! Slowly, surely, at a snail's pace, but it has. In the last year I've taken part in three exhibitions, two at Little Creatures and the one at Swancon last year. That's way up from, well, just doing stuff in Swancon. Also with the study, I'll hopefully learn the shit I need to know to put on exhibitions myself. I have an ambition to put on my own show, actually. A fiery need of a thousand suns to do something totally awesome. Also, when my room is clean (it is going to be clean, God damn it), and when I've saved up for a new laptop (Cause this one is fucked), hopefully I can get the cogs in order to have a nice workflow to get comics done. I have been writing scripts all year, believe it or not, developing characters and stuff.
- Fanfic - pretty dead at the mo, I'm sad to say. I work on my big projects from time to time (The Mummy series, Harry Potter fics, X-Men Movie fandom stuff, and of course, Xena fics) so they're slowly getting completed, but the majority of my limited energies are being expended in original projects. Which makes me sadder than you could possibly know, cause I miss fandom SO MUCH RIGHT NOW. I love writing fanfic so much, and fangirling, and being generally squeelacious, but I really want to make a stab at my art and writing career, and I can't do that whacking myself out on fic.
- Writing - been in a slump since uni. But I have been making headway on the plotting and the writing of my first big story, Amaryllis. Have readers now, which is great. When I say readers, I mean people that will give me feedback as I go. I kinda need that, I don't know why. Maybe it's my performance background, but I like to gauge my audience reactions as I go. Perfect it before I inflict it on people.
If you've not talked to me in ages but sometimes have the urge but don't know how to get over the, "Well, I haven't talked to you in months" bump, feel free to leave me a message, I'd just be happy to hear from yas.
Love you all, mwah! XOX <3
