logansrogue: (Thoughtful Me)
Dear 12 Year Old Self,

I watched you making a video for little Johnny with the help of Cati and Tina yesterday. A few things struck me. How big your nose is already, yet how it looks utterly adorable on you. How shiny your hair is, how blue your eyes, how bright your smile. I remember how ugly I felt at that age. I wish I could tell you how adorable you are, how precious. I would tell you to live up the times you live in, to enjoy it to the full, but that's pointless because I know that that's just how I roll. You're doing it anyway.

Here's some advice, babydoll. Don't worry about the boobs - they'll grow when they need to, plenty of people will love them and it doesn't matter that they're super pointy when you're 14. The retort to say is, "Yeah, and they'll be sitting pretty when I'm 30, cause they won't sag prematurely." Don't worry about your arse. Oh girl, that ass. That ass will cause a man to nearly chop his fingers off with an circular saw when you are 18, cause he's looking at you walk by and not at his work. That ass is the thing that friends and admirers will wax poetic about. That ass will be the thing you point proudly at your best fella and you'll grin with pleasure as they look at it with such lusty appreciation, it'll make you dizzy. And yeah, don't worry about the nose. It's your defining feature, it's a proud, unforgettable, beautiful part of your face. Wear that nose unapologetically - your face was built to suit it. And one day, your cheek bones and chin will grow in, and it'll all make sense. Trust me.

If you happen to feel any romantic pangs towards women - don't fret, don't worry. It's okay. It's perfectly natural, and it's fine. Yes, you can still like men. Just watch Rocky Horror and enjoy the pool scene - it's going to be quite the inspiration one day.

Don't worry about the boys. Yeah, I know, so far *none* have liked you back. But it's not you. Seriously, I'm absolutely serious. It's just shitty luck. What you'll find out at sixteen is that a lot of the guys think you're really pretty, but that they're too shy to ask you out. And probably too worried about appearing uncool. Don't sweat it, it's not you, it's them. You are awesome and wonderful, and you only get better the older you get. Don't languish in the fact that you're alone. Things will work out one day. Actually, one day, you'll meet such a wonderful guy, you'll think you've won the Boyfriend Lottery. And it'll be totally worth the wait. Everything you'll go through will make sure you treat this one right.

Oh, and some advice when you're 15 - that cute guy at the Star Trek club? Totally gay, so don't worry that he never cracks onto you. Just enjoy some nice conversations! He did think you were pretty, though.

There's going to be some pretty heavy shit in your future. I can't really prepare you. Just rest assured that no matter how bad it gets, you're strong enough to deal with it. And that? That's pretty awesome. *fist-bump* Go out there and get 'em, kid.

Oh, and dude... wait till you grow up. Your art is going to KICK ASS. Seriously, you'd shit yourself if you could see what you can put out when you're my age! Before you ask, yes, you totally learn how to blow your own horn and appreciate your own talents. Modesty isn't useful in a business situation, baby-girl.

Love and hugs,
Future You.
