Creative Healing.

I'm watching Stateline. They're talking about choirs, music and art helping disadvantaged people and those with psychological illnesses. These people are talking about how healing and wonderful art and music is, something I could tell you over and over again. I don't know if I'd be alive if I didn't have my art and music to express myself and console myself with. Music gives me power, real power, not material or political, but the power to feel connected to myself, to fill up my little piece of space on this earth and live how I feel I should live.

I think my favourite quote ever about this subject is by the poet John Armstrong:

Music exalts each joy, allays each grief,
Expels diseases, softens every pain;
And hence the wise of ancient days adored
One power of physic, melody, and song.

Except I'd add painting and art into that subset of healing arts. :) Obviously!

Anyway, the Health department apparently aren't into offering music and art classes for these groups of people. I'm not sure what's going on there, I wasn't paying too close attention. I blame my fanfic.
