Well, with the Velociraptors anyway. I've been reading about dinosaurs, and one of the most incredibly fascinating subjects in paleontology is the Bird-Dinosaur connection. I've been reading about new fossil finds all over the world that support the idea that a certain group of dinosaurs - the advanced theropods, of which Tyrannosaurus Rex is a part. There is even a theory that T Rex babies could have been covered in down! The main idea is that feathers evolved to keep the animals warm rather than for flight. I love these little sculptures here: http://www.kokorodinosaurs.com/feathereddinosaurs.html
They're so incredibly cute!!
Anyway, so in Jurassic Park, those Velociraptors might have needed some feathers attached to them!! If you look at the sculptures at the bottom of that page, with the feathers all over, it makes sense, it looks so very right.
