O Holy Crap...
Dec. 24th, 2003 05:53 pmWell. I did some recordings for Christmas for people, and let me assure you people that I am a terrible pop singer. I am just - BAD. But I gave a few things a shot.
Most difficult being Heart's Dog and Butterfly. I dedicate this recording to Findle - you bastard. LOL! I hope I haven't massacred this well loved song too much. Forgive me!
Dog and Butterfly - 4.8 MB - MP3
Next is the abuse of an old and noble language - German. For some daft-arsed reason I thought I'd sing a verse in German. I'm not entirely sure what I'm thinking, but the German friends I have on this list - Hermine, shirasade - I hope you can forgive me for this affront to good linguistics.
Stille Nacht (Silent Night) - 3.8 MB - MP3
Finally, I again went where Mariah Carey successfully went before and pissed it right down my leg. The worst thing was this track has a BAD saxaphone solo in the middle. You can hear my protests and whimpers of anguish. It's how much I hate badly used sax. Anyway, it's a needlessly God-dy version of O Holy Night. They just HAD to include the really religious last chorus, and I felt like a right dickhead singing it. And it was too low. Then it got too high. And I'm thinking, "If it's too high, and too low, I can't sing ANYTHING!" So yes. Know when you listen to this that I'm mentally beating myself for sucking so bad.
O Holy Night - 4.17MB - MP3
Merry Christmas, darlings! I sing these for you, I hope they are at least a little nice to listen to. I love you all, take care these holidays, and have a good one.

Date: 2004-01-08 06:05 am (UTC)First of all: You've got a very beautiful voice. After drawing so well, you're also a brilliant singer. And although Christmas passed by now, I couldn't resist listening to "Stille Nacht". I am German and I can assure you that you did a pretty good job with it! I safed the song on my hard drive for this year's Christmas. ^.^

Thank you so much, that's so sweet of you. I work hard on my voice, so the fact you enjoy it really makes my heart sing. It's what my life is all about, and you make it a little brighter in enjoying my work :)

Awesome!! And thank you! My Dad is German, I've grown up with that accent around me and he helped me with the pronunciation before I went about singing it. I sat there and practiced and listened to him say the words. I've grown up singing the German words too, so yeah, I know a few lyrics, it's just a few of the tricky ones I needed help with :) Anyway, thank you dearly and I hope you find the rest of my journal interesting!

Date: 2004-01-10 08:04 am (UTC)I do (for it also sounds very professinal)! I love to sing for myself, but I'd give everything for having such a lovely voice. I'm just useful for those... well... contralto parts. *sighs*

If you're doing another German song in the future, be sure, I'll listen to it. :)

Hehe, it seems so, otherwise I wouldn't be here, would I? ;)
