You know, I'd been avoiding Basco's Gluten-Free Fetuccini with Carbonara (and bacon bits) instant-meal pack. Usually I stick to their macaroni and cheese, but out of necessity (I ran out of mac-n-cheese) I had some of the carbonara.
Holy shit, it's totally not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm usually leery of fake bacon. But the flavour isn't bad at all. And I think they have real bits of dried bacon in it!! Yay bacon!
What I usually do with these pasta packs is add half a cup of parmesan before I cook it. It makes the sauce more robust and fruity, and less fake-cheese-tasting. When I say parmesan, I mean actual grated parmesan. Not that powdered crap in the tin. I will never use that again after having actual parmesan cheese.
So I'll have a viable alternative now when I've run out of mac-n-cheese, or Coles doesn't have the Basco mac-n-cheese.
