Hmmm... LJ Stuff..

This is a little worrying...

Waiting to see what sort of impact it has, since I assume Brad will do it whether the users want it or not.

There are ads all over GreatestJournal, where my latest (and lamented/dead) RPG took place. It's a bit annoying, though honestly I noticed them only on my character's profile page.

People are really blowing this out of proportion.
"Do you have a paid account?"
"Yes."
"Fine. No ads."
Done. Geez, I hate LJ for all the drama, but then I'm thinking nearly every site like this has the same problem. Of course, the key is finding other friends who hate drama as much as you do, then everything is cool. ^_^

See, I'm not worried about ads. I just want a few questions answered about how much sway the corporate sponsors have. That's all.

[identity profile] morganskye.livejournal.com 2006-10-02 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yah, true...I dunno, I think things should stay the way they are. I really don't use any of the special features, so it's not like I need more...*ponders* I probably will wait and see what happens before I form an opinion. I'm lazy like that.

The corporate sponsors (plus the sock puppets that were created in the scienceofsleep community) have me a heck of a lot more worried than all these stupid bells, dings and whistles that have been added in lately :-P I don't like that navigation strip at all.

I only ask a few things of LJ: a nice place to blog, nice user layouts to choose from and icon space. Lots of icon space.

I love icons, doggone it.

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-10-02 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Real people, lots of icon space.

[identity profile] morganskye.livejournal.com 2006-10-02 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for icons!

I wonder, other than communities, what could the corporate people do to us? (besides the threat of ads)

Yeah, he says he'll do it for the users. More like he'll do it for the money.
*sighs*
You could always join the rebellion on Greatest Journal.

Just goes to show how little I really use LJ. I haven't got a clue who Brad is or what the fuss is all about. I'm totally oblivious to all the behind the scenes goings-on. What the heck is this sheep thing that people are on about? Or do I want to know?

Changing the topic: I don't know of you noticed Nace, but I mentioned you very briefly in my journal in reference to David Krumholtz.

I think people don't want to encourage corporate sock-puppets and corporate-fap accounts. They're worried about blurring the lines between real people and made-up people.

[identity profile] theriverdark.livejournal.com 2006-10-06 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't we all made-up people on the internet? ;-)

Sewiously, though... {clears throat} Seriously, though, I don't think that any of this will end up impacting the way I use LJ, but I'm clearly a low-level user.

Oh, and it's not sheep that people are going on about, it's something about the science of sleep! That make much more sense... hold on, no it doesn't... ;-/

Yeah, pretty much. People don't like having their suspension of belief fucked with, I guess.

It's a movie with Gay Garcia. Er - Gael. Bernia. Something.
