RU486...

TAKE IT, Howard, TAKE IT! Yeah! Go Democracy! *dances* Stick it, Abbott, right up YO ASS!!

...

I realise this is a very immature and childish reaction to the recent voting of the power of veto of RU486 being taken out of Tony Abbott's hands... but it's a victory. I can't tell you how relieved and how thankful I am that such an important decision has been taken out of the hands of people as ignorant and arrogant as the Prime Minister and Tony Abbott.

Hahaha. I am so relishing the use of that icon with this post!

[identity profile] gemfyre.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thank God that was the result! (And y'know, I reckon God would be happy too.)

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Abbott and Howard are NOT happy. God, it tickles me pink to see them all shitty.

[identity profile] theriverdark.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Aaaaaand if I were Australian, this would probably mean something to me. ;-)

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
AHAHAHA! DANCING MIKE! BWAHAHAHA!!

Erm - don't worry. Abortion debate.

[identity profile] theriverdark.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, lordy, my least favourite debate subject. This is one of those issues where I am so totally, completely torn down the middle. As far as I'm concerned, both options suck. Deeply.

Mind you, if we're talking about the morning-after pill, I'm a bit less ambivalent about that. I don't have a big problem with it, as it pretty much just simulates a likely biological occurrence.

And... hold on, reading more of this thread... you have two prominent politicians named Abbotts and Costello?

...

BWAhahahahahaha!!!

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Abbott and Costello. Yes. We do. Trust me, it's the punchline of a LOT of political cartoons. :)

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Mum said this to me, and I had forgotten - there is a possibility that they may end up Prime Minister and Deputiy Prime Minister... so we would have Abbott and Costello running the country!

That's where I want the world to stop so I can get off!!

I can't fucking spell.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
what scares me most is amongst others we have peter costello to thank... yes he supported removing Abbotts right to veto

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
I know. That's so incredibly weird.

[identity profile] pooxs.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
I reckon he has a friend/relative that had an abortion.

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Uhm, I hear it's something he and his wife had to go through. Like, his wife had a pregnancy that if she went to full term, could have killed her. It was on ABC radio that I heard something like that.

[identity profile] pooxs.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
ah okay, didn't know that part

guess I was right then!

[identity profile] utopos.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Erm, no (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,18163462%255E601,00.html).

I've always preferred Peter Costello to Howard, at least Costello has a nice brother to yell contrary opinions at him.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
it is amazing how differnt Peter and Tim are.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
this is the best line, from Harry Quick "It is a wonder that we do not have more conscience votes because we have to speak from our heart, examine our soul and look at all the options"

Thats the intersting thing, as both parties become more centrist, there is no longer a line that separates them.

Thank god the libs can do something right..

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
the world is broken

[identity profile] shimmiwyld.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! *bounce* I mean, seriously, it should be a TGA decision. Abbott has no medical background that I know of and look at all the fuckups he's had ALREADY as Health Minister. I'd be VERY worried if he was in charge of my rights.
To be honest- they're basing it on their religious views. A lot of the MPs were basing their decision to remove his power over the drug on their personal experiences and of those close to them.
So so so so glad Howard and Abbott got stomped on. Makes me feel oh-so-good ^_^

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
It's the photo of them up at news.com.au that really tickles me pink:

[identity profile] shimmiwyld.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
HAAAAAAAAAhahahahahahha! Oh god, better than sex... (and since I don't know what sex is like that makes it easier... but... um... still...!)

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
You don't?! Heavens! Sex is awesome! With the right person, of course. Yes. But I waited some years cause I'm a total prude. Yay prudes!

[identity profile] shimmiwyld.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
*whimper* I want seeeeeeeeeex!!! Unfortunately I am ALSO a total prude, except I'm probably moreso in the fact that my boyfriends never last longer than about 2 months and I don't dare do ANYTHING major in that timeframe *sigh*
I guess I'll just stay a virgin my entire life :( And the only guys that are interested in me are either icky and gross, perverts or overseas :P

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
No, you won't. Not someone as hot as you. You're far too beautiful and awesome to say single for long! :)

[identity profile] shimmiwyld.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
...now I'm wondering if I'm hard to approach in r/l... :(

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Uhm, no. Australian men are dead lazy, that's what it is. The moment they see a woman with brains and opinion, they run like little frightened boys. Seriously.

[identity profile] shimmiwyld.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
So I should pretend to be a total bimbo like Stef? But then I only attract guys that want a quick fuck?
I'm confused. :( There are guys out there in relationships. They had to be single at some stage. Where are the single guys that want relationships NOW? :(

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
I know, man. It's frustrating. *sigh*

[identity profile] starfyre01.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, tell me about it! *ppht*

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
John howard looks like he is on the can

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHAHAHA! Maybe he had one installed in the Prime Minister seat for convenience!

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
well admittedly sitting there listening to some ot the people in parliament waffle on would give you the shits. I know it would piss me right off...

/end bad pun of the day

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Bwahahahaha. I love me a good bad pun!

[identity profile] starfyre01.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, I'm not seeing the least bit of childishness at all in your reaction. Massachusetts is making Wal-Mart carry the "morning after pill" - and surprisingly enough, they are complying, considering that they are such a conservative shopping outlet, but it's also the law here that pharmacies have to carry it.

[identity profile] jakie-em.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
the morning after pill is considered "emergancy contraception" here too so you can get it from a chemist, you dont have to go get a doctors prescription, which is good considering I have had doctors refuse to even prescribe me the pill because of THEIR religious beliefs...

I have had ovarian cysts, the best known prevention of them reoccuring is the pill... you know how many doctors I have had to get proof of that for... every time I move address I have to get my test results and stuff... for the bloody pill!!! these are the same doctors who wont acknowledge that the morning after pill exists and certainly wont prescribe RU486 when it becomes available

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fucking ridiculous. :(

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Religion is so personal, I can't stand it when people try to enforce it over a wider population.

[identity profile] indi-kayt.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad, fucking idiots.

[identity profile] indi-kayt.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, need to cut back on my swearing but this needed it I think. Stupid Abbott and stupid John.

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. Swear away. We got a right to express ourselves in any way possible.

And Abbott and Howard totally deserve it. LOL!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/lothar_/ 2006-02-16 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Much w00tage to you and Oz.

[identity profile] logansrogue.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally. I'm very happy about this.
