Sharing the freedom radio...

Got this from [livejournal.com profile] zebeckras.

Wil Wheaton talks about a terrible attrocity.

I hope that Bush gets voted out. He's a scary terrifying man.

The dork from Star Trek has a blog? (note: being called a dork whilst being acknowledged as part of the series Star Trek is a double insult since I am not a big fan of the series and I only know of his involvement with the series through Will Wheaton obsessed trekie friends of mine)

Yes he does. And I used to have a huge crush on him when I was a teenager. He may be a dork but he's a really nice guy and I've been following his blog for years.

I wasn't all that fond of Wil as "Weasley" Crusher (LOL). But he roccckkkssss as an adult commentator on life, politics etc. Cool dude. And I'm with you 100% about Bush. He's been a disaster for the U.S.A.

Somehow Not Surprising

You know, the thing I find interesting about this is that this is the first thing I've heard about the case from an American source.

Meanwhile, up here, the case has been in the news pretty much constantly for, oh, I don't know, A MONTH OR TWO before this article came out (if I remember correctly, of course). You know, ever since Mr. Arar got BACK to Canada? Press conferences, editorials, the whole bit. There's apparently an investigation going on here in Canada as to how this happened, though to my thinking it's not us that needs to be doing the 'splaining.

No frigging wonder a recent poll by the leading Canadian news magazine said only 15% of Canadians would want to see Bush re-elected.

He is scary... this whole thing is scary. I realize I'm not yet completely helpless, but I am absolutely dumbfounded by what is happening in this country. I can only try to persuade my mother to vote for whichever Democrat runs against Bush in November, because everyone else I know is not a republican and will support Bush, but I don't understand why. I can't fathom the decisions made by most of the people in this country. I don't know what they're about, how they can possibly support what they support--and that gives me my sense of helplessness.

I probably inherited this lack of understanding from my father. I have strong memories of him standing, dumbfounded, his jaw hanging open, boggling at something he couldn't comprehend or respond to. Ordinarily a very smart guy... just finding human behavior incomprehensible.
