I lent my battered copy of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" to my nephew. I told him to take care of it. The next day, he borrowed my BBC TV series of H2G2. I remember when my big brother let me borrow *his* copy of Hitchhikers. I was a teenager and it was the best book I'd ever read at that time.

Now, I lend my copy to the next generation. I think, perhaps, I might buy him his own copy and write in the cover "Always carry this, and your towel."
