Fuck you, Fiction Alley.

Fiction Alley compete against actual good causes for charity for 25,000 USD.

...

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?! SERIOUSLY!? WHAT? DID YOUR MOTHER NOT HUG YOU ENOUGH OR SOMETHING? WHY? WHY WOULD YOU TAKE FOOD OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF STARVING KITTIES AND DOGGIES, OR EQUIPMENT AWAY FROM DEAF CHILDREN THAT WILL HELP THEM LEARN, OR PLAY EQUIPMENT FROM POOR CHILDREN? WHAT THE HELL?!

If I could remember my fucking login details, I would go over there *right now* and pull ALL OF MY FIC. Because you guys? YOU'RE ON MY SHIT-LIST.

SELFISH fucking BUTTHEADS.

Another LJ friend posted about this. I'm still in shock. How SELFISH and SICK can people be?

I have been watching this with a generous measure of horror and disgust. Talk about entitlement. I keep thinking that plainly, plainly this is someone who's really never had to worry about much in her life.

I find it absolutely mind-buggeringly shocking. And wrong. And terrible. I don't have the adjectives, I just have this D: expression that won't go away.

My faith in humanity is taxed, my friend. Thank goodness for the fact that there IS a Pepsi Refresh challenge that people can go to for help. Though, ideally, these places would be getting that money from the GOVERNMENT. You know, that's what they're supposed to be there for, but that's a different problem entirely.

I had no idea that fanfiction-writing was such serious business. I can easily come up with LJ-communities that does more for quality fanfic writing (heck a couple of beta-communities just got started in this other fandom I'm in) and just... ugh! I actually saw their ad when I visited FAP earlier, (I basically go there for the SCUSA) and I saw no mention of charities being in competition. Ugh, I could have actually voted for them, thinking that they were only competing against other fandom sites, if it hadn't been for needing to register on the site, an effort I didn't deem FAP worth of.

If their Server was for free....what exactly did they with the money they most likely got donated or got through ads? That all aside I seriously doubt FA is still that much visited or used like in their hey-days.

http://www.fictionalley.org/donations.html

What do they want with 25000 USD in the first place...thats way too much.

We did Harmonyforever.com eventhough it was never that big like FA we were able to pay everything through ads and donations, at least as long as I was Admin there.

FA is much bigger, much more known and there are for sure a lot of people who donate, use their ads etc...and if they didn't have to pay a server, I seriously question where did all this money go? Just look at their donation page how many different ways they use to get money.

4000 USD for a new Forum...wtf...wtf....sorry to say this bur this sounds like they are counting their workload in, means it is not voluntary but paid work they are doing. Otherwise I can't see how they need so much money...not to mention from a charity..wtf oO

Read about this elsewhere and was suitably furious.

I almost thought 'i've missed the days of constant fuckery in HP fandom' and then thought, nah.

I'm taking my fic off there I think. It's had its day and these people are clearly fuckwits.
